Located just steps away from San Marco Square and facing the Grand Canal, sits the Monaco & Grand Canal Hotel. Lissoni was selected to renovate this magnificent 17th century palace. Lissoni’s work was a delicate balance between preserving and revitalizing the original design features, while enhancing the beauty and functionality of the overall space. The original plasterwork, frescoes, moldings, mirrors and the original terrazzo floors were restored and display a wide range of architectural values. As part of the project, Lissoni restored and redesigned all the public areas of the hotel including the bar lounge, restaurant, and the grand room. The internal courtyard was also transformed during the project and now is covered with a glass ceiling creating a visual bridge between new and old sensibilities of design and space.
